Working from home
Working with design in the construction industry for some years now, in particular in the domestic market place it is clear that there are a number of our clients who opt to work from home, either full time as a business or part time in association with their employment.
We have experienced through them the difficulties of combining home life and working under the same roof, especially where young children are involved and particularly with frequent school holidays and the resultant increase in background noise levels.
However, there are many advantages to working from home within a proper disciplined atmosphere where you can concentrate and carry out your work in a professional manner without these disturbances.
An Office Within the Home
It is often possible to design an area within the house layout that could be used as an office for working at home. It can be detached from the main living space and with the use of many modern materials it is possible to add enough sound proofing material to obliterate the background living noise, for example from children or televisions etc.
Similarly, a spare bedroom could be adapted in the same manner so that sounds from the office are not transmitted through to other bedrooms that may be occupied, particularly in the evenings.
A bespoke garden office
Dependent on size and location in the garden these can be constructed in a lot of instances without the need for a formal Planning Consent or Building Regulations approval. They can now be built immediately adjacent to the house under the current Permitted Development. We can advise on the many alternatives for this type of building and confirm as to whether any Local Authority approvals will be necessary. The design of these units can be entirely to your own choice and particular needs whilst keeping within the parameters of the Permitted Development guidance, we can incorporate any specific requirements associated to your business.
